About the FOP
The Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) is the world's largest organization of sworn law enforcement officers, with more than 321,000 members in more than 2,100 lodges. We are the voice of those who dedicate their lives to protecting and serving our communities. We are committed to improving working conditions for law enforcement officers and the safety of those we serve through education, legislation, information and community involvement. No one knows the dangers and the difficulties faced by today's police officers better than another officer, and no one knows police officers better than the FOP.
Founded in 1915, we are still "Building on a Proud Tradition." The FOP in North Carolina emerged on the scene in 1954, with the first lodge located in Asheville. Currently in North Carolina, there are fifty-four (54) lodges totaling over 5,200 law enforcement officers from the mountains to the coast. The North Carolina State Lodge was formed on May 23, 1972 and is headquartered in Cary.
Wake County Lodge #41 was chartered in January 30, 1984 in the Town of Apex. Wake County Lodge #41 started with 17 charter members. We are a non-profit organization that is fully funded and supported by the people of Wake County. We strive to improve the individual proficiency of our members in the performance of their duties and encourage social, charitable, and educational activities among law enforcement officers.
